Message from Nick:
Paddlers,
I said that I would follow up after my trip with the outfitter, well here are ll the details.
I paddled the 5 mile section and it GPSed right at 5. It is a nice stretch with scenery and some rapids, nothing major. Good run.
Here are the details:
For those that would like to paddle the 10 mile stretch we will meet at Matt and Kelly's house around 10:30AM. We will go to the outfitter, load up boats and head to the put in. We will paddle down to the 5 mile put in and meet the rest of the group for the final stretch.
For those that would like to paddle the 5 mile stretch, meet at Matt and Kelly's house around noon-fifteen and head to the outfitters to watch the safety video and get squared away.
Prices:
Loveland Canoe and Kayak has offered me a 10 percent discount on boats. They will upgrade for free for everybody to ride in Old Towns. Whether you cruise the 10 mile or the 5 mile if you have your own boat it is 10 bucks.
10 Mile - 35 bucks after tax to rent a canoe for the day, (includes life jackets and paddles)
5 Mile - 30 bucks after tax to rent a canoe for the day, (includes life jackets and paddles)
Like I said before, you have to watch a short safety video before you leave.
Bad news....They are Alcohol Nazis. You must find an inventive way to stash the drink. When I went I had a small personal cooler with a few gatorades in it and then put all my beer in a dry bag. They never checked the dry bag. Another option, make up some mixed drinks and put them in two litres or collapsible canteens, or some thermos of some sort.
Low profile is the KEY. They told me they have had problems in the past with alcohol so they check coolers. Keep it discrete and you shouldn't have a problem.
If you really wanted to get adventurous you could stash a vehicle at the put in with all the coolers and grab them after the outfitter has left.
Weather: 70's - Sunny
Meet back at Matt and Kelly's for barbecue and pool fun!!!!
I hope to see you on the river....

This is the event we will be telling our children about when our knuckles can no long grip the paddle blade. Nick, Kelly and Matt Kline invite you to southern Ohio to paddle on their backyard stream, the Little Miami. Nick has been busy scouting out the river - earning double CCB miles. The plan is - we will paddle the Little M on Saturday and then gather back at the Kline's for a feast and a dip in the pool to clean all the funk off. lol... Maybe that's just my plan... still, it will be great fun. We will put up tents in the backyard as overflow for the out-of-town guests. Come one, come all. The fun won't end until we are 10 miles away from home on Sunday afternoon.
Please share your intentions...
Host: Kelly & Matt Kline
Attendees: Jim McAllister, Natalie & Scott Borchelt,
