The Two Hearted River, Newberry, MI

Paddle - Pics

Paddler: Scott
Plans changed. I flipped from the original plan of two days on the Thunder Bay River to one day on the Boardman to the final destination - the two hearted river. Don Parriseau was headed to deer camp to prep for the 15th and offered an invitation. I've been trying to get there for almost three years. So I jumped at the chance.

The river is beautiful. Its small. It reminds me of Bear Creek. I saw some late run salmon on the many redds that push near the surface. The water is the color of Guiness Beer. Very few homes and lots of wildlife helped make this a great float. I started at the Reed Green bridge in a cloudy 31* afternoon and ended at the Lake Superior shore with snow falling hard and fast. Fabulous. I can't wait for the next visit. Thanks Parriseau.
