Hello Campers.  Next weekend over the 11 th , we are headed for a winter camping trip at Marshall Farms north of Reed City .  We will camp off the duck pond, cut down a few standing dry trees to build a huge fire to stay warm, and spend the day looking for deer shed antlers, and an opportunity for squirrel, coyote, or fox.  We will drill holes in the ice by the beaver dam and fish for brook trout - or just knock around the deep snow snowshoeing or exploring.  Early last month we dispatched a porcupine - if the coyotes have done their job, we may find some good quills to collect.  Let me know if you are interested in coming along - I am headed up on Friday, others are coming up early Saturday to spend just one night under the stars.  Hopefully the weather cooperates..  A little snow would be nice.  I talked to a local this week about the 12" of snow that fell a few nights ago.  Hopefully we can drive in instead of dragging/sledding our gear to the pond.
