21st Annual Blissfest Music Festival

July 13th-15th, 2001

Get Your Pictures Here!

Blissfest is a annual weekend festival of eclectic acoustic-based music including traditional American, ethnic and world music.

This will be our meeting and camping stop for the weekend. We will be able to enjoy all the festivities and food in the evenings while enjoying the Sturgeon River on Saturday. This will be a great weekend for anyone to come. If you do not feel like cannoeing on Saturday, enjoy the music or hike the trails on Lake Michigan. This promises a fun and relaxing weekend North.

Location: Cross Village, Michigan

Just four hours from Rochester and 18 miles from the Sturgeon River. Here is a map of the area - http://www.blissfest.org/locatormap.htm

Tickets bought in advance will run ~$50 for the weekend of camping and music - Great Deal. ~$60 at the gate. The tickets will go on sale March 1st.

The Sturgeon River

I still need to find a livery for canoeing the Sturgeon, but here is what I know so far about the river. Located in Cheboygan county, we will be putting in at Trowbridge Road Bridge South of Wolverine, Michigan and canoe into the South end of Burt Lake. This trip is a 16 mile, 6 - 7 hour trip. Here is a brief description of the waters from Canoeing Michigan Rivers by Jerry Dennis.

The Sturgeon - considered a premier trout stream - is also one of the Lower Peninsula's most beautiful and challenging canoeing rivers. Consistently quick current and average descent of almost 14 feet per mile make it one of the fastest Lower Peninsula rivers.

How nice will it be to come off the river on Saturday, and head back to camp to cook a big dinner around a fire with great live music and lots of new friends all around?

Please let me know well in advance if you are interested. This one needs to be planned early and tickets purchased.
