What an excellent adventure. Thank you all for making this trip so memorable.
Many things stand out in my mind from this weekend. The food at Howard
& Carol's was fantastic. I had never seen the dinner menu before since
we have always been in-and-out early in the morning. Food was top noth.
And the New Years dinner everyone helped sling together was a feast, especially
the Crab and caviar.
The snow conditions were great. We scoured many trails across frozen
Lang Lake almost to Little Bear. We rode some of the trails to lakes North
of the camp which winded through marshes, over hills and through the woods.
Blast.
The hottub was a real treat. I spent many hours over the long weekend
slowly stewing in the tub. It was best when we had the tub packed with
all 10 of us at once. "Hey, whose foot is this??".
Julie sent her photos already. Take a look.

Cheesy
Dip

|
For those of you who asked for it, here is the Cheesy Dip recipe!
Ingredients:
1 can Campbell's Chilli Beef soup
1 can Campbell's Cheddar Cheese Soup
1 pound Monterey Jack Cheese
1 pound browned ground beef (optional)
Combine soups (cold, directly out of can) and cubed Monterey
Jack cheese in casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees until melted
(about one half-hour) stirring, and "tasting" with chips, as needed!
Add browned ground beef, if desired, and bake another ten minutes.
Enjoy with tortilla chips, preferably during a victorius Green
Bay Packer's Football Game!

Snow

|
12/8/00
I spoke to Carol Acton at Lang Lake today. She told me the
lakes are frozen and they have 6 inches of snow on the ground with
more forecasted for Sunday. She sounds very optimistic about
great snowmobile conditions for our visit! Keep thinking cold.
Weather
Report from Sudbury
UP Michigan
Sledding Report
December 7, 1:00pm
There will be sledding this weekend!! Heavy to moderate amounts
of snow in the snowbelt regions of the Upper Peninsula and Northern
Michigan. This is largely lake effect snow so amounts will vary
and best conditions will be found in northwest lower Michigan and
the Lake Superior snowbelts of the Upper Peninsula. You'll probably
find early season base problems.
Also remember most lakes ARE NOT frozen!
Stay off lakes. Happy Holidays!!!!

Food

|
Todd
and Elyse are planning a special New Years Dinner. They are preparing
Crab legs, red skins, and clam chowder. They request that everyone
else bring a dish to serve which could include a salad, fruit, bread,
champagne, veggies, steamers, appetizers, shrimp, white russian
supplies, etc.
Toad
is planning on bringing up sandwich stuff for our lunches. We all
need to help contribute food for lunches and snacks. We do not want
to buy these supplies over the border... they will probably be more
expensive in Espanola. So, lets start sending email to let everyone
know what you are going to bring. The cabins are fully stocked with
full kitchen and stove/oven.

|
We
are also going to do a white rabbit gift exchange. Please plan on
bringing two $5 gifts each. They can be anything from the ridiculous
to meaningful. We will draw numbers and then swap gifts. Ask Elyse
for details... I have never seen this done before but it sounds fun.

Reminder

If
you send an email to snow@burntcabin.org,
everyone will receive the message.
Plan
on finding your own helmet. If you need a helmet, please send email
to snow. Some of us have access to extras.
Questions,
send email ---- lets all
do our part to dance for snow and cold. I will talk to Howard this
weekend for confirmation of plans and a snow report from Lang Lake.
