Changes
Here is a summary of what we may try new
this year based on conversations with Chuck and experiences from previous
years. Read last years
lessons learned.
- Coordinate meals better with our Southern
friends
To save on all the extra food and supplies, dinners are better planned.
Who says the North and South can't cooperate?!? Read the menu
- Have initiation early in the week
We have missed initiation 2 years in a row. It's just too frantic
trying to complete the Euchre tourney, pack, clean, fish and find beverages
at the end of the week. Lets try to initiate on Saturday night
while we are fresh, well-fed and have plenty of beverages.
- Buy extra beer & liquor inside
Canada
I am brining 12 cases of beer for 16 people from Indiana this weekend
(7/22). This leaves room for people to bring bottles, wine, whatever
extras they want WITHOUT going over the liquour/person rule at the border.
GOAL #1: GET THROUGH THE BORDER WITHOUT PAYING DUTY AND BEING SEARCHED.
We will purchase extra beer and liquour for the week once we are in
Canada. The exhange rate will work favorably for us this year.
- Ordered Crawlers from Chuck.
Chuck's crawlers cost $32/flat. This saves us a lot of headache of cooling
and transporting thousands of worms into Canada. If we need more crawlers,
Chuck would be willing to pick us up more half way through the week.
I am ordering the crawlers on Monday (7/24).
- NO Deep Freeze
Chuck does not have his freezer this year so we cannot store ice or
buy ice on the island. Also, this makes freezing fish to take home more
difficult. The freezers in the cabins do not work so well for the quantity
of fish we usually pack home.
