Hello Bear Lake Fishermen,

I have received deposits from eleven Bear Lakers for our next trek into the Canadian wilderness, I am also aware of another three deposits in the mail. I think we will soon have our group together; Please make certain to send your deposit our contact me if you plan to go. We have several people who have not participated inquiring, but I want to make certain all the regulars and part timers have had a shot at this years trip before opening it up.

I promised the group my best picks from Petros’ picks for 1999 and these sure fire lures are as follows:

Skitter Poppin – This top water lure by Rapala does not look like a lure by this company but it has the same quality and fish catching ability that has made Rapala a favorite. If you like top water excitement or if you plan to fish with Bob Taylor, this is a must for the 1999 trip.

In The Zone – How about a Rat-L-Trap lure that suspends when you stop the retrieve. The old version has been a success, but the lure might be even more effective during a hot August day.

Lightnin Shad – Do not come to Canada without this lure. This lure can be fished over deep grass or ricochet off rocks and logs in the five to eight foot range. I ask you, does this sound like any areas we fish? This is the shallow version of the deep diving shad.

Gator Bug – Every list should include at least one spinner bait. This fine tuned lure has the combined action of a spinner bait and a jig. This lure comes and three sizes and eight color patterns.

Vibrax Minnow Chaser – No guarantees on this lure but it is certainly intriguing. This lure creates the image of a small fish chasing a minnow. Would this ring the dinner bell for a large pike?

Well, this list should stimulate the urge to buy a few more of those cannot miss lures. If you have any other ideas add them to the website. Stay in touch!

Wishing tight lines and firm hook-ups

David and Scott
