March 12, 1998Some of you may think I have been slacking by sending out the BearLake letter this late. Actually, I like to think of it as being penny-wise; I am saving a stamp by sending out both of these letters at the same time. ? The first letter announced it was time to start thinking about BearLake. This letter is asking you to send in your deposits now. I saw Chuck at the Michigan Fishing Show at the Palace earlier in the month. We have the entire island reserved so we need to start filling the beds. Please send your $50 deposit to my father in Atlanta. His address: David Borchelt We also need to know who is available for drivers of people and haulers of gear. This would much easier if we all try to limit the amount of stuff we bring. We used to be much better at this. Some of us bring one bag, a few rods and some gear. Others of us bring EVERY piece of gear and camping equipment we own. I know I lean towards the latter more than the former. Maybe we just need to go through our gear one more time and take out all of those things we always bring but never seem to use. In late June or early July I will send another letter from my father showing the list of fisherman headed to Canada and their assignments. You can keep track of the preparation for Canada on our web site. Most of the BearLakers are already aware of the web site dedicated to the good times at BearLake. I thought I would advertise it one more time since this letter is being sent to EVERY person who has ever been to BearLake. Some of you we have not heard from for a while. For those of you who are out of touch with the Internet, mail me a letter about what you have been up to and I will post it on the web site. (Josh Barret, Tom Borchelt, Matt Lentz, Greg Davis,) Everyone else is a current BearLaker or is on-line with at least email and has visited the web site at least once. Slowly, I am adding pictures and cool things to the web site. For example, you can vote for your favorite lake or tell your favorite fishing story. In progress is a page showing as many BigFish winners as I can find documented. Thanks to Hersh Borchelt who documented EVERYTHING, we have lots of history to work with. Mad Dog Bundi and others are helping me work on a history of Bear Lake that details the creation of the camp, stories of the previous owners and descriptions of historical places in the Lang/Bear chain of lakes. Take a look again if you haven't visited the Bear Lake site for a while. http://www.burntcabin.org The Whistling Trout Members will also find a section dedicated to Salmon and Sucker fishing in Michigan. Please visit the web site, sign the GrapeVine (guest book), tell your favorite fish story, and vote for your favorite lake. If you want to send me pictures, I will make sure they get posted on the web site for the whole world to see --eventually--. Health and Happiness until we meet again
in Flint Michigan on July 31st. |
